🌿 Rooftop Green City Project

An Environmental Initiative by Youth Career and Development Hub (YCDH)

🌱 Overview

As urban areas continue to expand, cities like Rangpur are losing their natural greenery and facing severe environmental challenges — rising temperatures, air pollution, and loss of biodiversity.

To address this issue, Youth Career and Development Hub (YCDH) has launched the “Rooftop Green City Project”, a visionary initiative aimed at turning the unused rooftops of Rangpur into green, productive, and sustainable gardens.

This project is designed to make Rangpur a Cleaner, Cooler, and Greener City — one rooftop at a time.

🌿 Why This Project Matters

Most rooftops in Rangpur remain unused. If each rooftop becomes green, the environmental and social impact will be remarkable:

🌤️ Reduce City Heat – Plants absorb sunlight and lower rooftop temperatures.
🍃 Improve Air Quality – More greenery means cleaner and fresher air.
🥬 Grow Fresh Food – Households can produce organic vegetables and fruits.
💚 Enhance Mental Wellbeing – Green spaces reduce stress and improve happiness.
🌎 Combat Climate Change – Rooftop gardens contribute to carbon reduction and urban sustainability.

👥 Who Will Be Involved

The project is being implemented by:
YCDH Youth Leaders
University Student Interns

These passionate young individuals will conduct household surveys to identify interested homeowners, raise awareness about rooftop gardening, and assist in setting up eco-friendly rooftop gardens.

🏡 How It Works

  1. Survey & Awareness – Youth Leaders and University Interns visit homes to discuss rooftop gardening possibilities.

  2. Technical Guidance – YCDH provides basic training on rooftop garden setup, watering systems, and plant selection.

  3. Community Engagement – Interested homeowners become part of the “Green Roof Network.”

  4. Implementation & Support – Gardens are established with expert guidance and ongoing assistance.

  5. Recognition – Each year, YCDH honors the Best Green Roof and Greenest Community to inspire others.

🌿 Partnership with ESDO

To strengthen environmental awareness, YCDH has partnered with ESDO (Environment and Social Development Organization).
During the survey, participants will distribute awareness leaflets and stickers co-branded with both ESDO and YCDH logos — helping spread the message of sustainable living to every household in Rangpur.

🌍 Our Vision
